Blackwater Creek Koi Farms Inc has been tested in the past for the virus and all tests came back negative.

We were alarmed by a letter that was sent out stating that a confirmed case was found in Florida. Because there are very few places selling koi in Florida and we are probably the most well known, many assumed it was us. It was not.

From what we understand it is a dealer engaged in buying and reselling fish, possibly from numerous places. They have since destroyed all stock.

We do not buy and sell koi from anyone. The fish being sent are from our farms (owned and operated by us). The fish being shipped come from our ponds, from broodstock flown directly from Japan to the University of Georgia where they were held for weeks at adequate temperatures. When they were confirmed free of the virus, they were transported to our newest farm that had NO koi on it at the time. These breeders are used to produce the koi you see on our site and order from us on a wholesale basis.

The virus is in the industry and probably always will be. There are a lot of cheap koi coming in from all over the world. Yes they are cheap but, is the one or two dollar savings worth the risk or your entire stock and your reputation? We don't think so.

We have taken the precautions to ensure we supply clean and healthy koi. We pay our staff of professionals well. We are in it for the long run, not the fast buck. Count on us to give you the koi you deserve at a fair price.
