It may be difficult at first to believe that all Koi breeds can trace their bloodlines to the rather plain, black Common Carp.
Before you start enjoying these “Swimming Jewels”, known as Koi, you might want to learn some of the terminology used to describe the many features of these beautiful Fish.
Koi varieties continue to evolve and improve. Less than 200 years ago, all Koi came from the common carp grown as a food source in and amongst the rice paddies
