Gosanke Peanuts are typically a mix of different red/black/white varieties.

These small koi currently range from 1- 2 1/2" in size and are a result of multiple spawns using ONLY Kohaku, Sanke, Showa. Please note that the Gosanke varieties are stunning in color and pattern when fully grown, but can sometimes suffer from the "ugly duckling" effect when young. Baby Koi from these Gosanke spawns often start off with drab colors and orange instead of true red. The colors will begin more rapid development by the time they are 2.5" long. As they grow and mature, their colors and patterns fully develop, and suddenly you will have many beautiful Kohaku, Sanke, Showa, in your pond! Our Peanuts are unculled, meaning we have not gone through and cherry-picked out the best ones to keep for ourselves. So you're sure to find many "diamonds in the rough" in every box of Peanut Koi from Blackwater Creek! This includes Standard Fin & Butterfly Fin (no guarantee on ratio, could have a lot or no butterfly in the mix). There are 100-125 fish per box. Quantity will vary based on the size of the fish. If the fish are running on the smaller side in a given week, you'll receive more fish in the box. If the fish are running on the larger side, you'll receive fewer fish in the box.

Due to the fragile nature of these small koi losses up to 20% a few days after arrival have been experienced. Adding 5 lbs non-iodized salt to each 100 gallons of water will reduce post shipping losses. Water above 70 degrees will have best results.

But What Do They Eat?

Wondering what to feed your Peanut Koi? At just 1-2 1/2", they are too small to eat pellet food, so we formulated a finely-ground version of our Gold-N Professional Koi Diet in a size small enough for the Peanuts to eat.

All my peanuts arrived alive and healthy. Three days later I haven’t lost any! They are tiny, without a lot of color yet but still beautiful. I can’t wait to see the colors emerge. I think I may have even gotten a Tancho. Will order more soon.
